Scholars renew their scholarship every year by getting good grades in school, participating in class and attending our extra curricular activities. A few of our scholars:

Eliana has one great passion – painting. When looking at her paintings one can see that she has a real talent which she probably inherited from her father, an equally enthusiastic painter.In her free time she likes to read short stories, listen to music and go for a run with her friends. Moreover, Eliana would like to learn how to play the guitar but until now she never had the opportunity to take lessons.Eliana participates regularly in the weekly activities that GO offers the students. She enjoys the joint breakfasts and the maths and computer science lessons held by volunteers.
Future Aspirations:
After finishing school Eliana would like to study biochemistry since biology and chemistry are the topics she enjoys most and knowing that one can reach a higher standard of living with this job than with being an artist. Also, she takes part in a project at school which is called “Pro Salud” (Pro Health) where the students are taught how to take her of their own body and eat healthy.

Eliana lives in a small house with her parents and her brother Marcelo, who is 2 years older than her. Eliana’s mother is a housewife, whereas her father studied graphics and painting for four years and out of personal reasons he had to quit his studies without getting a degree. Now he is working as an independent carpenter, making an effort day by day to care for his family. Because of his own history he considers the education and future of his children the most important thing and supports Eliana as good as he can in order to help her finish school and get a decent job.

Daniel is a passionate football player and in his free-time he regularly organizes tournaments with his friends. Furthermore, he enjoys surfing the web which he does in the Internet cafés at neighborhoods near his. During 2009 Daniel worked together with a volunteer to learn web programming, basic html code, etc and its something he likes. Still, its hard for him to keep at it because he doesn’t have the resources to practice, not even in school. The school where Daniel attends had 5 computers and they were robbed last year.
Since he is a music person and likes singing, he has the aspiration to learn how to play the guitar one day.
Future Aspirations:
Daniel’s goal is to finish secondary school. He would also like to take a computer science course since his dream is to study graphic design in order to become a computer programmer.
